DATABASE ENGINEER

Job Summary
The DB Engineer creates new database systems including modeling, structure, procedural code, query optimization, and custom data extracts. The DB Engineer also maintains and monitors existing Modiv and its clients' systems, troubleshooting errors and collaborating with various functional teams such as marketing, research, analytics and IT to achieve business results.

The DB Engineer also utilizes reporting software to generate metrics and reporting needs for the Media Performance and Analytics departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design new database structures using modeling tools
  • Possess a deep understanding of the data driving Modiv's business and its value
  • Develop and support shell scripts for database activities such as data loading and unloading, as well as, Modiv product installations and upgrades
  • Maintain current reports and write new reports using Crystal Reports XI and Jasper Reports.
  • Committed to quality and creating readable, reliable and maintainable code.
  • Troubleshooting complex production issues when escalated to engineering
  • Ability to deliver within scheduled timelines

Relationships:
Reports to Technical Lead

External Relationships:
Liaison to Product Management, Engineering Department, Sales team, and QA leads.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors degree in a quantitative or technical discipline from a top tier school. Preferably, an engineering or computer science degree.
Work Experience: 2+ years DB work experience.
Work Requirements: Person needs to be in the office during regular business hours 40+ hours per week.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of the full software development lifecycle
  • Ability to perform in a fast paced start up environment
  • At least 2 years of experience in RDBMS technology preferably either DB2 on Linux or Postgres SQL
  • Proficient in DB2, PostgresSQL, Linux, Shell Scripting (bash), CVS, Crystal Reports XI and/or Jasper Reporting
  • Knowledge of Hadoop a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Eager to have fun in the office

SENIOR DATABASE ENGINEER

Successful candidates will be self-starters eager to learn fundamental development skills in a fast paced environment with helpful engineering mentors. It is assumed the candidate must learn many of the key responsibilities and technologies listed from the technical lead they report to while learning by doing on a project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in functional definition brainstorming meeting
  • Gain understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • Communication skills are key to successfully working in our small company environment. The developer may be asked to develop functional and technical specifications for the software they're building
  • Strong understanding of the integration between servers, applications and networks
  • Prior development experience with Droid, smart phone and mobile apps a plus

MEDIA DELIVERY SPECIALIST

Modiv Media is seeking a full-time Media Delivery Specialist. We are a dynamic, growing software organization looking to add to our Media team.

Job Summary
The role of the Media Delivery Specialist is to execute, manage and optimize our mobile media campaigns; this includes working with clients, planning for future placements, and monitoring and providing insight on live campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitoring of all active offers, providing insights and recommendations for enhancements
  • Image creation, using a Photoshop template, and uploading of creative to Modiv's systems
  • Entry into retailer POS systems (when required)
  • Testing of all offers (in-store and via our networks) to ensure proper setup
  • Troubleshooting of issues related to offer setup and performance
  • Working with other Modiv departments to provide Media insights regarding new software features
  • Partnering with clients during the media/ offer process

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree required.
Work Requirements: You should have a minimum of 2 years' experience in digital media, software or a related role.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Computer savvy: This position requires daily work in Excel, our propriety systems and our ad server. You must have solid computer experience and be able to grasp new programs quickly.
  • Task oriented: Each campaign has a multitude of steps. You must be regimented and able to pace your work accordingly
  • Detail oriented: You must have a keen eye for details.
  • Communicative: Our campaigns have many moving parts. It is critical that you keep all client and internal parties informed throughout the process.
  • Problem solver: As things go awry (and they do), we need someone who can put on their analytical hat to take a closer look into all possible scenarios and determine the root cause ñ and solution.
  • Adaptable: Although we have a multitude of systems, sometimes instances arise in which we need to be adaptable and create workarounds for the benefit of our client. You must be proactive in executing campaigns that are "exceptions to the rule."
  • Attitude: You must be a hard working, resourceful team player with a really great attitude.
